Walking the Show Floor at ISC West 2013

What do I look forward to at ISC West? Well, besides the annual treat of wearing my most comfortable almost-slippers to walk the show floor, the innovations, of course! But the motivation behind a lot of those innovations can be a much more interesting topic, and many of the booths I visited today shared some common factors, albeit realized in very different products.

Take a gander at some of my favorite trends of the day:

Added Business Intelligence

This was a popular one at many booths, including Axis, Avigilon and Milestone. By using built-in capabilities – typically reserved for security-only uses – for different applications, these companies are engineering additional ways to add to ROI while increasing security’s reputation as a key enterprise player.

Also, Axis has teamed up with the Wentworth Institute of Technology to develop applications that would run on the company’s cameras, much like apps on an iPhone. Two students came with their productions, including a facial-recognition software (called “Project Alibi”) designed to clock people in and out of facilities – managing attendance and alerting …

Guardian 8 Corporation, a provider of innovative personal safety and security tools, today introduced a new class of defense products with the debut of the G8 Pro V2 at ISC West 2013, April 10-12, at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. The product is the first in a new category of security products called enhanced non-lethals (ENL).

Available in the 2nd quarter for online sales, the G8 Pro V2 is a lightweight, duty-belt device designed to arm security guards with a single tool that provides multiple layers of defense, a command center communication link and automatic incident recordings of both audio and images.

Guardian 8 Receives Initial Order from International Distributor

Firm order comes in as debut Pro V2 device launch draws closer.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — 12/19/2012 – Guardian 8 Corporation, a wholly owned operating subsidiary of Guardian 8 Holdings (OTCQB: GRDH), received an initial international order for $10,000 of devices from a new South Korean distributor this week. Delivery is expected in the first quarter of 2013. While this order marks the first of many that are anticipated over the life of the agreement, Guardian 8 has previously announced a waiting list of over 700 US companies with an interest in deploying the Pro V2 product.

Guardian 8 Receives USPTO Allowance Of Design Patent

Protection of a product’s look and feel is of growing importance in emerging technologies.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — 10/24/2012 – Guardian 8 Corporation, a wholly owned operating subsidiary of Guardian 8 Holdings (OTCQB: GRDH), announced today that the company received notification on October 17, 2012 from the US Patent & Trademark Office that the design patent application protecting the company’s Pro V2 product was allowed to proceed to issuance upon payment of standard transaction fees. The design patent marks the second patent to be announced by Guardian 8 in the month of October.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — 10/16/2012 – Guardian 8 Corporation, a wholly owned operating subsidiary of Guardian 8 Holdings (OTCQB: GRDH), announced today that the company received notification on October 4, 2012 from the US Patent & Trademark Office that application 12/490,461 was allowed to proceed to issuance upon payment of standard transaction fees, which has since taken place. Ninety-Six Percent of Convertible Debt Converts To Equity, Including Holdings Of Four Board Members and CEO.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — 7/25/2012 — Guardian 8 Holdings (OTCQB: GRDH) announced today that $544,500 of debt has been eliminated in the conversion of convertible promissory notes to shares of common stock just months before the launch of its subsidiary’s G8 Pro V2 defense device. Four board members and GRDH’s CEO, holding $165,000 in convertible debt, were included among the transactions completed in late June.
