NBC Affiliate Profiles Pro V2 for School Safety

Picture1-1Against the backdrop of the recent tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, a local NBC affiliate based in Washington State profiled Guardian 8’s Pro V2 Enhanced Non-Lethal device as part of a story on school safety.

The reporter, Chris Luther, mentions the re-emerging debate about arming teachers with firearms and discusses the Pro V2 as an alternative to that drastic measure. Guardian 8’s Director of Sales, Scott Hart, clarifies that the device is intended for any environment that faces security issues, and the reporter appropriately acknowledges that the device is not intended to stop an active shooter (like a firearm).

Recent testing conducted at Guardian 8’s headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ has shown that the deployment of OC from multiple Pro V2 units can create a significant area denial footprint in places such as school hallways or outside of classrooms. Despite the non-lethal nature of the device, this testing indicates that they could be used by school staff as part of a lock down procedure to create a deterrent effect for a would-be shooter on campus.
